IT WAS ALL A DREAM... I USED TO READ WEDDING MAGAZINES!
SEPTEMBER 7, 2016 - When people would ask me, "How did Premini Events come to fulfillment?"... I would respond by saying, "It was all a dream, I used to read wedding magazines!". Ha! I wish that was the case, but my story is a little bit more out of a movie.
It seems surreal that I began the journey of Premini Events 8 years ago. At the time I was working for good ol' corporate America in marketing/events. My thought process was to change industries every few years, and by the time I hit my early 30's, to pick one and stick with it. It's funny how the universe had a completely different plan for me.
Being born and raised in New Jersey, my parents migrated here to America in the 70's and attended prestigious universities such as Princeton and Rutgers. They instilled values in me to get a good education, be morally sound, and choose a career path that was "professionally safe". So following their advice, I applied for the six year Doctor of Pharmacy program at St. John's University in New York, and got accepted. It was approaching my senior year into the program that I felt an uneasiness in my spirit, that this wasn't the path that the universe created for me. So with all the courage I had, I approached my parents and told them... I NEED TO FIND MYSELF.
So with a semester off from college, a $120K balance in student loans, and a whole lotta' soul searching... I knew event planning is where I wanted to be. So I took a leap of faith and applied for several jobs/internships to get my feet wet. After working for several notorious Fortune 500 companies, my brother (Prem) and sister (Padmini) said... "You really need to start your own journey". And so I did. Naming the company after them, PREMINI (by combining their names) and starting the journey in 2008. And here we are eight years later... on top of the world... highly regarded within the South Asian community as group of experienced planners that are top notch. We are so incredibly lucky to have the best clients in the world. It's nothing but God's grace. I am incredibly blessed... and I know I will never take any of this for granted. Thank you for believing in me....
With love... light... blessings and happiness. - Elizabeth Priya Kumar
